Byron Moore Obituary

Byron Alan Moore, age 81, of Quincy, died on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 8:11 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Byron was born on March 27, 1943 in Hobart, OK, a son of Everett and Dorothy Henderson Moore. On December 31, 1983 he married his soul mate, Barbara Bridges, in Hannibal, MO. She survives. Byron was a 1961 graduate of Hobart High School in Hobart, OK. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy, from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965. Byron continued his education at Cameron University in Lawton, OK, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business. Byron had also attended beauty school, and he worked as a hair dresser during college to help pay his tuition. Byron then took a position as a sales manager at LaMaur Professional Division in Minneapolis, MN. Byron held that position for 10 years, and he left LaMaur as a divisional manager. In 1983, Byron and Barbara opened State Beauty Supply in Quincy, which they operated for the next 40 years, until their retirement in 2023. In his spare time, Byron enjoyed golfing and playing weekly league pool at Rack Daddy's. Byron also loved the time he spent traveling with Barbara. In addition to his wife, Barbara, survivors include four children: Kara (Gaylon) Davis of Ottumwa, IA; Bobby McFarland of Daytona Beach, FL; Shad Moore of Stillwater, OK; and Leah (Archie II) Whittaker of Hannibal, MO; ten grandchildren: Morgan Davis of Fairfield, IA; Kiefer (Alyssa) McFarland of Daytona Beach, FL; Kelsey (Skylar Adams) McFarland of West Haven, UT; Blake (Jacqueline) McFarland of Lake St. Louis, MO; Gavin McFarland of Daytona Beach, FL; Kellen McFarland of Daytona Beach, FL; Keagen Pontecorvo of Quincy; Zacharia Scheiter of Brownsville, KY; Allie Scheiter of Hannibal, MO; and Zoei Scheiter of Hannibal, MO; six great-grandchildren: Cali and Charlotte McFarland of Daytona Beach, FL; and Jaylee Nall, Harleen McCloy, and Chet and Walker Adams, all of West Haven, UT; his mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Sullivan of St. Augustine, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Byron was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Jeanette Corcoran, Conrad Ashley, and Quentin Ashley. Services will be private. Memorials: Special Olympics. Barb.....I cannot express my utter sadness to hear of Byron's passing !
What a remarkable man he was. I always looked forward to getting a text message saying Barb and I need some painting work done. He was everything good in a human being, and this world could certainly use more people like Byron Moore in it. You have my very deepest , and heartfelt sympathy !
