Darryl G. Kolarik, 84 of Hannibal, MO passed away at 3:28 PM Thursday, March 13, 2025 at his home.

Born on August 10, 1940, in Hannibal, Missouri, Darryl's early years in the tight-knit community of Ilasco shaped a life that was rich in history and deep-rooted values. He was proud of his Ilasco heritage and never missed an opportunity to share stories from his beloved village, affectionately known as Monkey Run.
Darryl was married on April 17, 1971 in Hannibal, MO at St. John's Lutheran Church to Rita May Daniel.
Darryl is lovingly remembered by his wife of many years, Rita Kolarik, who found in him a lifelong partner and confidant. His legacy lives on through his two devoted daughters, Andrea Prescott and her husband Mickey of Muscatine, Iowa, and Laura Kolarik and her husband, Tony Ng of Brooklyn, New York. His sister, Marlene Vershaw of Moline, Illinois, will fondly recall the countless memories they shared. Darryl's nieces and nephews, too, will cherish the wisdom he passed down to them.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Anna Sajban Kolarik, his brother Denny Kolarik, and his sister Margaret Scheiter. They laid the foundation for the remarkable man he became, and it is certain that a joyous reunion has taken place.
Darryl's professional life was marked by his dedicated service in management at American Cyanamid, where he was respected for his thoughtful and friendly demeanor. His colleagues will remember him not only for his work ethic but also for the camaraderie and support he provided.
Beyond his career, Darryl's passions painted the picture of a man deeply connected to nature and history. He found solace in the tranquility of his garden, the thrill of mushroom hunting, and the serenity of fishing along the Mississippi River. An avid reader and historian, he was particularly fascinated by the complexities of World War I and World War II, a reflection of his ever-curious and insightful mind.
Darryl's companionship with his dog, Jack, and "The Cat" was a source of joy and comfort. His love for his pets was a testament to his kind and gentle spirit, and their presence brought a unique brightness to his days.
Darryl's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his compassionate and friendly nature.
