James Turner Obituary

James M. Turner, 39, of Quincy, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 in Quincy, IL. James was born July 10, 1986, in Quincy, IL to Michael Dale and Ann (Gehring) Turner. Survivors include his three children, Jayma, Harlyn, and Epic Turner; one sister, Crystal Stoltz (David); one brother, Nicholas P. Turner; and three nephews, Jeremiah M., Isaac, and Ayden Burkett. James was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. James graduated from Southeastern High School in Augusta, IL. For the past six years, he was a valued laborer at C-tec, and prior to that, he contributed his skills to Knapheide. Beyond his professional life, James was a man of many passions. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in hunting deer and squirrel, and fishing at Bear Creek was a favorite pastime. His love for the open road was evident in his prized possession, a 2005 Custom Harley motorcycle. If the TV was on, you could often find him engrossed in music biographies, hunting or fishing shows, or cheering on his favorite team, the Chicago Bears. His musical taste was a rich tapestry of rock and alternative classics, with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, and Nirvana. A master of the grill, James was also an enthusiast of the great outdoors, often going camping and engaging in spirited games of poker with friends and family. His presence at these gatherings was a source of happiness and camaraderie, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever. His absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Cremation is under the direction of O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
