Dr. Joseph A. Rapagnani

Dr. Joseph Rapagnani Obituary Dr. Joseph Arthur Rapagnani, 91, respectfully and lovingly known to many as "Dr. Joe", of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away peacefully at 4:40 am on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the University of Iowa Medical Center Downtown in Iowa City, Iowa. Joe was a most caring and generous person to many people throughout his well-lived life. At the age of ninety-one, people were always amazed by his sharpness of mind and sometimes dry humor. He always had a story or adventure to talk about from his many travels and life experiences. He loved to spoil his family, friends and pets. Joe served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1961 to 1968 as a medical commander and served in the Iowa Air National Guard from 1963 to 1968. He put himself through college, attending undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa and Cornell College, graduate school at Stritch School of Medicine, post-graduate studies at Mercy Hospital and the Kettering Institute, and medical school at Loyola University. Joe held several positions throughout his career but is best known for his private medical practice in Keokuk, several supervisory positions at DuPont, and serving as Director of Clinical Services at Conoco from 1988 to 1996. Joe is survived by his sisters Barbara Reuter and Kathleen Rapagnani; nieces and nephews from the Kopiecki, Reuter, Moore, Summers, McElwain and Dohrn families; great nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins from the Cetta and Andrews families; and his beloved dog Gretchen Annie. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Umberto and Edith (Andrews) Rapagnani and his sisters Edith Joan Kopiecki, Mary J. Moore, Carolyn Ann Summers and Elizabeth A. Dohrn. Entombment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
