Kenneth Hild Obituary
Kenneth "Kenny" W. Hild Jr., 64, of Quincy, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Kenny was born February 19, 1961, in Quincy, IL to Kenneth W. Hild Sr. and Birdie Arlene (Hawe) Hild. He was married to Linda Smith on January 24, 1982 in Quincy, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include his three children, Ryan William Hild (Allyson) of Leawood, KS, Ashley Kay Endicott (William) of Asbury, MO, and Andrea "Annie" Marie Mounts (Wesley) of Lowell, AR; five grandchildren, Addison Rose Hild, Hudson William Hild, Ryder Kade Hild, Sydney Laine Endicott, and Sawyer William Endicott; two brothers, Kevin Hild (Eva) and Gary Poling (Sandy); one sister, Kim Webel (Randy); and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; one father in-law, Rodney W. Smith; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A proud graduate of Quincy High School in 1979, Kenny furthered his education at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. His professional life was marked by dedication and hard work, first at Jacks / Penn Daniels, before he found his calling as the VP of Operations at Farm & Home Supply, from which he retired in 2022. Kenny's faith was important to him, and he was a devoted member of The Crossing Church on 48th Street.
Kenny's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid fan of the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bulls and the University of Illinois, he also enjoyed the camaraderie of fantasy football each fall. His competitive spirit shone through in games of euchre and shuffleboard, and he was a familiar face at Cedar Crest, his favorite golf course. Kenny's love for the outdoors was evident in his deer hunting excursions, and he found joy in the simple pleasures of tuning into episodes of Gunsmoke or listening to classic rock and country music.
Travel was another of Kenny's joys, with memorable family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks and a recent adventure to Jamaica among the highlights. Yet, it was his strength in connecting with people, friends and his family that truly defined him. Kenny had the rare gift of making everyone feel special, often through the playful nicknames he bestowed. His happiest moments were those spent with his friends, family and grandchildren, whether he was masterfully manning the grill and hosting a party or enjoying quiet moments at home with his best friend and love of his life, Linda.
Kenny's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives he enriched. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
