Larry Rose Obituary
Larry Dean Rose, age 85 of Griggsville, IL passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. He was born August 1, 1940, in Pittsfield, IL to Allen and Velma Hohe Rose. Larry married Karen Hull on August 27, 1961, in Pittsfield, IL and she survives.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Larry drove a truck for Kenny Bonnett for 18 years, worked in purchasing for Don Kirk, built and worked in hog confinements at JDL, and drove a delivery truck for Arends-Awe. However, his favorite and most rewarding job was taking care of the Griggsville Park where he met many friends and took great pride in the compliments from the community. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed golfing, spending time with family and friends, and loved his dog, Murphy. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren enjoying Oreos and milk.
Larry is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Karen Rose; children, Dena Rose of Quincy, IL, Melody (Tom) Ruble of Griggsville, IL, Ron Rose of Griggsville, IL, Pam (Rick) Harn of Chatsworth, IL, and Debbie (Jay) Sellars of Murrayville, IL; grandchildren, Danny (Brittney) Pryor, Kiona (Jason) Wright, Kara (Nick) Sweet, Derek (Kendra) Oitker, Bridget (Jimmy) Bush, Cole Rose, Jennifer Bell, Mitchell (Megan) Faulkner, Josh (Shelby) Harn, Blake (Alissa) Howland, Jaelan Sellars, Dominic Sellars, Dakota (Jessica) Sellars, Colton (Emma) Sellars, Dane (Brooke) Sellars, Coy (Tatum) Sellars, Deea (Paul) Vortman, and Michelle Howard; thirty four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Anna Mae Cooley; sister-in-law, Carol Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Velma Rose; grandson, Waylon Rose; and brother, Paul Rose; brother-in-law, Junior Cooley; and in-laws, Harold and Lois Hull.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, August 18, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to Griggsville Park District. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
