Linda Chaknine Obituary

Linda Sue Chaknine, 69, of Hamilton, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Linda was born on June 24, 1955, in Keokuk, IA. She was the daughter of Harry Earl Fox and Thelma Rose Wooster. Linda graduated from Keokuk High School in 1973. In September of 1973, she was united in marriage to George William Chaknine and had one daughter, Angela Sue, in 1974. After George's death in 2006, Linda reunited with a former sweetheart, Henry Settles. They were engaged shortly after that and remained together, residing in Hamilton, IL, until her death. Together they shared many years of laughter and adventures. Linda enjoyed cooking, reading, and loved music. She loved the band, Journey, and her favorite song was "Don't Stop Believing." Linda also owned many muscle cars throughout her life, including many Camaros, which were her favorite. Linda had a strong love for her pets, especially her dog, Paxton. She also loved watching her grandchildren, Caleb, Abigail, Samantha, and Ryder grow up. Linda was very proud of them and their accomplishments. She will be missed beyond any measure, and we all look forward to the day we are together again. Linda is survived by her fiancé, Henry Settles of Hamilton, IL, her daughter, Angela (Chris) Hogge of Devils Lake, ND, and her grandchildren, Caleb (Natalie) Hogge, Abigail Hogge, Samantha Hogge, and Ryder Hogge. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George. No services will be held at this time. Printy Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I use to work with Linda. She would always ease the tension and make things fun with her witty sense of humor. I'm just now finding out of her passing. This saddens me. We would message each other on the holidays and the conversation would end up with us talking about make up skin care and our loved furbabies. Especially her rabbits that she loved dearly. She will be missed terribly. Rest in peace, Linda. You had the sweetest soul and beautiful spirit.

We shared hours and days talking with each other to pass the time. I'm glad she found love. She was the kind of woman who didn't like to complain and liked to make sure those around her were happy at the sacrifice of her own at times. She'll be remembered with fondness.
