She went to school at Perry High school, class of 1963, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Sam Anthony, on August 7, 1965. Peggy had a passion for flowers, dancing and music-collecting an extensive album collection of Elvis Presley and others. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, sewing, and exercising. Her son Charles got her addicted to video games via Super Mario in the late 80's, which continued until present.
Peggy was a devout Christian and her social life was closely intertwined with the Pittsfield Assembly of God, and its many groups and activities. The power of the Spiritual, social, financial and emotional support she received here positively impacted her life and health beyond measure.
There are no words to express how grateful we are to all of our neighbors who have provided much support over the years. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Liberty Village and all staff; whose rehabilitation and care helped her to live at home longer. Special thanks to Illini Hospital staff and Pike County EMS, we are grateful for these critical local services.
Peggy displayed a remarkable will and determination while battling through a series of adverse health events over the last several years. She endured pain, yet bravely undertook bouts of rehabilitation while maintaining a positive attitude. Never giving in- always ready to conquer the next day! The siblings and family still were able to gather once a month for coffee at one their homes. Recently, the family members were able to all get together one last time to celebrate the wedding of niece Sally. During the last year and a half, Peggy was able to hold her first and only granddaughter, Sophia, and found great joy seeing every picture and video sent to her.
