Robert Bottrell Obituary

Robert J. Bottrell, 70, of Chatham, IL, died Monday, March 24, 2025, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab. He was born on September 21, 1954, in Chicago Heights, the son of Orville Wayne and Jesse Aileen (Bean) Bottrell. Robert married Ruth Lynn Thomas on August 27, 1994, at Central Baptist Church in Quincy. He is survived by his loving family; wife, Ruth of Chatham; and daughters, Jennifer (Chaseton) Holdman of Lawrence, KS and Amber Bottrell of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James "Jim" Dean Bottrell. Robert had attended First United Methodist Church in Springfield. He enjoyed watching old movies, anything to do with sports, and liked to spend his free time golfing. Robert absolutely loved to spend time with Ruth and his girls, Jenny and Amber. Robert's wishes were to be cremated. There will be small private Celebration of Life at the family's home and they will be scattering his ashes in the Smokey Mountains later this year. Memorial donations in memory of Robert are suggested to Alliance of Therapy Dogs or All Kids Play. You can find more information about those organizations at https://www.therapydogs.com/alliance-therapy-dogs/ and https://allkidsplay.org/about-us/.
