Samuel Cherry Obituary

Samuel "Sam" Never Cherry, born on November 4, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2025, in Seguin, Texas, at the age of 78.
Sam lived a full and vibrant life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an Aviation Mechanic, Petty Officer Second Class, for three years. His deep love for storytelling, sense of humor, and infamous "dad jokes" meant he never met a stranger. Everywhere he went, Sam made friends and left smiles.
He spent many years in Odessa, Texas, where he was previously married to the late Karen Cherry. Together, they had a daughter, Amy Price (husband Robert Price), and were blessed with two granddaughters, Jamie Price and Ashlee Williams, and five great-grandchildren:Aiden, Wyatt, Haveyn, Abigail, and Alayina.
Sam had a passion for shooting sports. He loved attending paper and iron gun matches and was an active member of a cowboy shooting club, where he proudly went by the alias "Texas Grey Ghost.*
Later in life. Sam moved to Seguin, Texas, where he married Joanne Cherry. Through this union, he gained two stepdaughters, Nicole Cook and Crecia Hill, a step-granddaughter, Cailee Hill and a step-great grandson, Weston Hill, all of whom he cherished dearly.
Sam is survived by his brothers, Mike Cherry (wife Janet Cherry) and Pat Cherry (wife llene Cherry), along with many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Nelson Cherry Sr, and Juanita Cherry, his sister, Katie Hoffman, and his former wife, Karen Cherry.
Sam's legacy of warmth, humor, service, and love for life lives on in all who knew him.
"It is what it is." - Sam's favorite quote, and the way he lived his life: with humor, honesty, and heart.
