Brendan J. McNamara

Brendan J. McNamara, 64, formerly of Haverhill, MA and Hampton Beach, NH, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Rockingham County Rehabilitation Center in Brentwood, NH. He was born in Haverhill on June 28, 1960, son of the late Adrian and Ruth Ann (McQuade) McNamara. He attended Sacred Hearts of Bradford and Haverhill High School. A Hillie through and through, he was equipment manager of the football and track teams. Although born with Muscular Dystrophy, everyone who met Brendan would immediately be impressed by his handling of his physical limitations and his strength of character. Often referred to as the Mayor of Bradford Square, of Hampton Beach, and of the Rockingham facility, his social skills were a gift to all he came in contact with. He always offered companionship, laughter, and a sense of family to all who knew him. Brendan had a career in hospitality, working at the Roma Restaurant in Bradford, the Old Salt, the Sea Ketch, Funarama, and Whale's Tail in Hampton Beach. Each of the various positions seemed to entail talking sports with the patrons. Go Pats, Celts, Bruins, Sox, and Hillies. Brendan will be deeply missed by his countless friends from the many communities he touched. His legacy is one of love, perseverance, and an unmatched ability to brighten the lives of those around him. He was the brother of the late Anne Marie McNamara and is survived by his siblings Kevin and his wife Kathy of West Newbury, Brian and his wife Peggy of Amesbury, Kathleen McNamara of Stratham, NH, Maureen and her husband Hank Offinger of North Sandwich, NH, Elizabeth McNamara of Hampton, NH, Karen McNamara of Hampton, Shawn and his wife Kearstin of North Hampton, NH and Allison McNamara of Brooklyn, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday, Jan. 24th from 10-11 AM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. Bradford, MA. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
