Brian Skafas Obituary

HAVERHILL - Brian Skafas, age 59, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, MA, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Brian was the cherished husband of AnneMarie (O'Hearn) Skafas, with whom he shared a love story that spanned decades. From the moment they met, their connection was undeniable, built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they created a beautiful life, filled with shared dreams and cherished memories. He was the loving son of George, Jr. and Kathy (Reilly) Skafas, who celebrated the man he became. Brian was also the beloved grandson of Mary Skafas, whose love and wisdom left a lasting impact on his life. A proud graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1983, Brian excelled both academically and athletically. After high school, he attended UMASS before continuing his education at MCI (Maine Central Institute), where he served as football captain and earned the honor of valedictorian. He led by example, showing his dedication, hard work, and passion for doing his best in everything he took on. Following his education, Brian served his country as a member of the Army Reserves, where his steadfast reliability and strength earned him the nickname "The Rock." This name wasn't just something he was called-it reflected who Brian truly was. For his family and friends, he was a source of strength and guidance, always leading by example-and he never hesitated to let you know how to do it better. Whether offering advice, lending a hand, or simply being present, Brian's calm presence grounded everyone around him. Brian built a career as a self-employed carpenter, combining his passion for woodworking with his entrepreneurial spirit. His exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook, always leaving behind a piece of himself in his work. Brian shared an extraordinary bond with his six brothers and their families, a relationship defined by love, loyalty, and shared memories that spanned a lifetime. He is survived by Kevin and his sweetheart Wendy, Scott and his wife Sacristy, Tom and his wife Laura, Dan and his wife Stacy, Mike and his wife Beth, and Brendon and his wife Michele. Whether working together, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, Brian and his brothers shared a connection that defined their family, built on love, support, and shared memories. For his family and friends, Brian was a rock-a steadfast source of strength, love, and wisdom. Through his actions, he showed what it means to live with love, loyalty, and purpose. Above all, his unwavering devotion to Amo was at the heart of who he was. Brian's life was a testament to the power of love, and his legacy will continue to inspire everyone who was blessed to know him.
