David Watnick Obituary

David M. Watnick passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 98 in Chestnut Hill. Prior to moving to Chestnut Hill David lived in Groveland, MA from 1972 to 2016. David was born in Haverhill, MA in 1927 to Simon and Ida Watnick. He graduated from Haverhill High School in 1944, the University of New Hampshire in 1948, and Harvard Law School in 1951. David served in the US Army from May 1945 until May 1946. After graduating law school, David opened a private practice in Haverhill. David was an active member of the community and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as President of the Kiwanis Club of Haverhill. His commitment to his community extended to his professional life, serving as the Assistant City Solicitor of Haverhill and subsequently as the Town Counsel of Groveland. David married Adeline Robin on May 17, 1970 (December 3, 1934-February 2, 2001) in Haverhill, after which they practiced law and had two children together. David was extremely active in the Jewish community in Haverhill, where he taught Sunday school and served as the President and sat on the Board of Directors of Temple Emanuel. He also played the violin as an accompaniment to the cantor for the High Holiday services. David was an accomplished violinist who played with the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra. David was an avid fisherman and tennis player. He will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather, and as someone who was always willing to help those in need. David is survived by his two children, Randolph Watnick and Serena Madar, his daughter-in-law Jing Watnick and son-in-law Nir Madar, and four adoring grandchildren, Audrey, Eytan, Oz and Barak. He will be missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 11:00 at the H.L.
