William Dow Obituary

William W. Dow, 81, of Haverhill, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Penacook Place in Haverhill. He was born in Newton, MA, on April 29, 1944, son of late Norman M. and Marjorie (Stone) Dow. William was educated in the Newton School System and graduated from Newton South High School with the Class of 1962. He went on to receive a bachelor's degree from UMass Amherst, before going on to Suffolk University Law School. He also served in the National Guard. William moved to Haverhill in 1970. He was a Department Director for the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, and on their legal counsel, retiring after 26 years. He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Notary Public. He was a former member of Bradford Pentucket Choral. William enjoyed spending time downhill skiing, playing piano, was a train buff, road racing and sailing. William is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Betty L. (Downs) Dow, his stepchildren William B. Field and his wife Sharon of Haverhill, and Karen E. Hanson of Ipswich, his siblings Bruce Dow of Cambridge, David Dow and his wife Linda of Hampton, NH, Charles Dow and his wife Betsy of South Orleans, and Richard Dow and his wife Deborah of Pocassett, MA. He also leaves behind four step grandchildren Angela Zogg, Andrea White, Jessica Mione, and Nicole Hanson, his step great grandchildren John Remington-Field, Mason Zogg, Oliver, Sydney, Lillian White, and Ryan Mione; as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 12:30-1PM in the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home. His Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
