Mr. and Mrs. Scheiter:
I am deeply saddened to read about Dave's passing. My prayers are with you. I notified my parents of this sad news. Dave was a good friend and confidant and he always provided me solid advice. Looking at the testimonials about him on this site, he had a significant impact on many other people, as well. Again, my condolences to you and your family.
Respectfully, Colonel Stu Wahlers, US Army, Special Forces

Our sincere condolences go out to all of Dave's family and friends. God bless each and every one of you.
It was a very sad day at the Chickasha, Oklahoma Antique Auto “Pre-War Swap Meet” Thursday as the news circulated as to why friend Dave was not present. Many of us were hoping and praying that our dear friend in Hannibal shares one common trait with another very popular Hannibal associate, Mark Twain. That trait being: “My death has been greatly exaggerated!” Now we sadly acknowledge that the report we heard is true.

Dave made friends and served the needs of antique auto collectors and enthusiasts every year since this “Pre-War Swap Meet” began in 1986, and at the Chickasha Fall Swap Meet prior to that. We also looked forward to visiting with Dave at swap meets in Kansas, Texas, Pennsylvania, and other states. He has countless friends in the antique automobile community.

We will miss Dave very much, and look forward to seeing him again. Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

Dave left a unique imprint on the lives of many people, one by one, as he lived his convictions and his faith. Those of us in the Gateway Antique Phonograph Society (GAPS) and the Horseless Carriage Club of Mo. (HCCM) admired Dave for his stable outlook on life and his participation in events despite the odds against him. Always a man who faced uncertainties with a wholesomely positive attitude, his example of charity and honest integrity can be a beacon for others. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless all those whom Dave held near and dear, granting them solace at this time of loss.

Prayerfully--

Dr. Gerald Perschbacher (LL.D.)

Thanks David for some of the early cylinder records you helped me obtain. One of these can be heard on Glen Sages tinfoil.com, the song "When the Birds go North Again".

I am writing on behalf of the Gateway Antique Phonograph Society. We were greatly saddened to learn of Dave's passing on January 27. Dave had been a member of the club for many years, and we fondly remember him as of the nicest people, a true gentleman. It was always a pleasure to see him when he would make that long drive down to St. Louis where most of our meetings are held. It was our privilege to have known him. We will miss him.
