Donna Neece Obituary

Donna I. Hayden Neece, 95, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at her daughter's home in Quincy, IL.

A graveside service will be at 1:00pm Friday, June 20, 2025, at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL. Rev. Steve Disseler will officiate.

Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy.

Donna was born on October 23, 1929, in Akron, CO to Francis "Frank" Lincoln and Nellie Irene (Brinkerhoff) VanLiew.

She was first married to Elmer Hayden on March 17, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2000. She was later married to Keith Neece on August 28, 2004. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2017.

Donna is survived by two daughters, Trudy Hoskins (Allan), Lucinda "Cindy" Yuchs (David), both of Quincy, IL; one step-daughter, Julie McLaughlin (Mike); Ann Schuenke (Bob) whom Donna thought of like a daughter; one daughter in-law, Jenny Hayden of Venice, FL; 12 grandchildren, Kelle Hoskins, Andy Hoskins, Kerry Smith, Matt Hayden, Elizabeth Chatten, Tim Doellman, Eric Stratman, David T. Yuchs, Steven Yuchs, Lindsay Mowry, Meredith Wallace, and Lauren McLaughlin; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gary Hayden; one brother, Milton Nance; and one sister, Irma Leasman.

Donna's professional path led her to the Modern Dairy in Quincy, IL, where she served as a cashier for 28 years. Known affectionately as "Donna from the Dairy," she retired leaving behind a legacy of diligence and kindness.

Donna's faith was a cornerstone of her life as a long-standing member of Luther Memorial Church, where she nurtured young minds as a Sunday School teacher. Her community spirit shone brightly as she led both Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, guiding the youth with her wisdom and patience.

Travel and adventure were among Donna's passions. She embarked on cruises, including a memorable trip to Hawaii, and cherished times spent on the river with close friends. Her love for dancing often brought her to the Elks Club, especially if Curt Wacholz was on piano.

Donna's home was never without the companionship of her beloved Dachshunds, with Snoopy holding a special place in her heart. Her grandchildren lovingly bestowed upon her the nickname "Grandma Snoopy."

Above all, Donna's life was a testament to the power of love and the joy of being surrounded by family. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort us.
