Doris Faye Dieckmann, 77, of Bowen, IL died at 2:16 am Wednesday May 3, 2023, at Sunset Home in Quincy, IL
She was born on July 13, 1945, in Quincy, IL to Charles Arlo and Eileen Esther Wittler Witt. She married Albert Benjamin Dieckmann Jr. on March 11, 1968, in the Bowen Christian Church, they later divorced. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Doris was a graduate of Bowen High School and attended John Wood Community College in Quincy, IL, she received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. She was a retired special education teacher at Macomb Senior High School in Macomb, IL.
Doris loved going on outings with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was an animal lover, HGTV lover and an Elvis fan. She was an avid reader, patron and story hour reader at the Bowen Public Library. Doris was a longtime member, former pianist, Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher at the Bowen Christian Church.
She is survived by a daughter Tara (Mike) Ohnemus of Quincy, IL, a son, Therron Dieckmann of Chesterfield, MO, 4 grandchildren, Audrey and Cyrus Dieckmann of Austin, TX and Lucas and Bella Ohnemus of Quincy, IL, a sister Rosalie Ann (David) Babcock of of Plymouth, IN, 2 nephews, Nathan (Brandy) Babcock and their son Ben and Chris (Katie) Babcock.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Nick Babcock.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday May 6, 2023 at the Bowen Christian Church in Bowen, IL with Rev. Tom Mehaffy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Chili cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of services at the Bowen Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bowen Christian Church.
