Edwin Robert Bubb, age 75, passed away on Tuesday evening November 18, 2025. Ed was born on August 7, 1950 in Macomb, IL to Bob and Helen Bubb.
Ed is survived by his wife, Lynn, his children, Jeremy and Carrie and his siblings, Stan, Margo, Emily and Annette.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Helen, mother and father-in-law, Willard and Wandalee Shields, sister-in-law, Pat, and brothers-in-law, David Hull and Mike Hollenback.
Ed attended WIU where he received his Bachelor's and then his Master's. He received the coveted Betty Crocker award during his Masters graduation ceremony on the front yard of his home. He started his teaching career at Balyki, where he taught and drove a bus for 10 years. Then the family moved to Quincy in 1982, where he continued teaching and even received the Golden Apple award. He eventually transitioned to guidance counselor until he retired in 2012. During his career he taught adult education classes in the evening, College for Kids in the Summer and had his own business, Compu Cat Consulting.
He built his family 2 homes, one in Havana and one in Quincy. He continued with helping both of his children with their own home improvements. He had picked up several hobbies over the years including, carving, sculpting, drawing, painting and graphic design. One that had followed him throughout the years had been shooting pool. He started at a young age and hustled pool in college in order to buy his high school sweetheart an engagement ring. Once he retired, he was able to play more often and joined his Friday games with the "old guys," which he rarely missed. He also would always be found eating out for lunch, and sometimes dinner. He also enjoyed driving his "Mid-Life Crisis", a 1950 Mercury Coupe and his 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle.
The family appreciates assistance from Matt, Lisa, Cindy, Linda and April. Along with Blessing Hospice staff and Bradford Villa staff. Thank you to all friends and family that visited and brought goodies. And to the neighbors that kept the home fires burning.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:30 pm in the Vermont Cemetery, Vermont, Illinois. Reverend Robert Greene and Steve Weaver will officiate. As a classmate of Lynn´s , a neighbor of Ronnie´s and a classmate of my sister´s I´ve always known Ed. Working with him on our VIT Alumni committee I got to know him better and I´m so thankful. He was a very talented and loving person. He will be forever missed. My deepest condolences to Lynn and the family.
