Gerald Frericks Obituary

Gerald L. "Jerry" Frericks, 84, of Peoria, formerly of Quincy, died Monday (April 29, 2013) in Peoria.

He was born July 25, 1928, in Quincy, a son of Louis and Gladys (Lehmann) Frericks. He married Lee Wells Marberry on March 15, 1975, in Joliet. She died in 1992.

Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While in the Navy, he served in the Medical Corps at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Great Lakes Naval Station near Chicago. After his military service, he attended Roosevelt University in Chicago on the G.I. Bill and graduated in 1953.

Jerry had a private pilot's license and loved flying. He also enjoyed boating and built several boats, all named variations of "Never Again."

He managed the Putnam Dyes manufacturing operations for Monroe Chemical Co. until its closing in the mid-1970s. Jerry was professionally active in the community and a member of the Rotary Club of Quincy. He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by a daughter, Martha "Marti" Marberry, and her husband, Thomas Roraff, of College Station, Texas; three brothers, Melvin Frericks and his wife, Shirley, Robert Frericks and his wife, Jan, and Donald Frericks and his wife, Sheryl; and two sisters, JoAnn McIntire and her husband, Bud, and Marge Anderson and her husband, Jim.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith Warner.

SERVICES: 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
