James Eli Carlson, age 77, of Independence, MO died on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Liberty, MO. He was born on February 17, 1947, in Kansas City, MO the son of Jarvis Eli and Helen R. (Harmon) Carlson. Jim married Barbara Jean Meyer on July 2, 1981, in Hannibal, MO. She survives.
Jim serviced his country in the US Navy from September 9, 1968, through September 8, 1972. He was employed as a plant engineer for Continental Disc in Liberty, MO from May 10, 1993, until his retirement on January 1, 2016.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children: Justin (Morgan) Carlson of Maryville, TN, James (Christi) Carlson of Liberty, MO and Heather (Jason) Naftal of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren: Jason Robert Naftal, Madison Naftal, Austin Naftal, McKinzie Naftal, Ally Dodgen and Jordon Carlson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy (Richard) Carlson Adrian.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM in St. Brigid Catholic Church, Liberty, IL. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00. Inurnment in St. Brigid Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Liberty American Legion and the United States Navy Honor Detail at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Wounded Warrior Project. Messages may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com.
