Jeffrey Henry 'Jeff' Steinkamp, age 71, of Quincy, passed away on December 17 at Blessing Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born April 7th, 1951, in Quincy, IL Son of Ralph and Hildegarde (Cramsey) Steinkamp. He married Cindy (Souders) on May 2, 1980, at Quincy University Chapel. She Survives.
Jeff was a strong and loving family man, community leader, devoted Catholic, friend and mentor to many and a stranger to no one.
Jeff graduated from the University of Illinios with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Within his 49 years of being a registered professional engineer in Illinios, Texas and New York – he has received 5 US Patents for Mechanical, Structural and Electronic design. All of these patents are proudly displayed in his invention room in the basement. Most recently, he was working on his 6th patent, which is currently residing on the dining room table.
Aside from his creative analytic ability, Jeff always loved being in the sky. He has made nearly 400 parachute jumps. Then in his later years, he took up the sport of powered paramotoring. Whenever the wind was just right, he would be seen flying over his beloved City of Quincy, often with the American Flag in tow.
Jeff was actively involved many local and regional organizations. He showed kindness, compassion and leadership through Addicts Victorious Ministries, Bereaved Parents of USA, Quincy Cursillo, Quincy Park Board, Quincy Riverfront Development Corporation, Quincy Aeronautics Committee, National Society of Professional Engineers, United States Parachute Association and the American Society of Dad Jokes.
Family was everything to Jeff. Whether it was sitting in the front row at a dance recital, cheering on the Dark River Derby Coalition, taking his grandson to Maid Rite every Saturday or cruising around in the Mustang after Sunday mass with the love of his life. The memories are endless and filled with comfort and love.
He was a devout member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife Cindy, Jeff is also survived by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Jenna Lannerd (Rob) and Jayme Stroot (Tyler) all of Quincy.
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Henry James Stroot, Paige Lannerd and Brianna Lannerd.
SIBLINGS: Linda Hooley (Jim), Joe Steinkamp (Shelly) and John Steinkamp (Karen).

I attended St. Francis elementary with Jeff. He was smart and kind. In about sixth grade some of us exchanged miniature school photos. In a moment I´ll attempt to attach a composite photo in which Jeff is pictured in the top row. He will be missed.

Jeff was a fine person- caring and joyful. An encourager; willing and open to sharing a prayer or some form of humor in the right situation. He'll be greatly missed!

Cindy and Family: Our heartfelt condolences. Jeff was such a great Quincy Ambassador, a very positive, energetic, force for good in our community and beyond. Always willing to help in any way and/or lead ... depending on what the people and the project needed. A long time family friend who sought us out to welcome us back to Quincy in 2001. Jeff was a friend to all and as loyal as anyone anywhere! Jeff´s giving accomplishments, engineering exploits and so much more impossible to cover fully but Jeff was captured beautifully here. RIP good friend and may God Bless your loving family.
