Jerome Ripperda Obituary

Jerome "Jerry" F. Ripperda, 70, of Quincy, died Friday (May 31, 2013) in St. Vincent's Home.

Jerry was born Aug. 26, 1942, in St. Rose, a son of William and Louise Bach Ripperda. He married Helen Heubner on March 23, 1968, in Coatsburg.

Jerry was a laborer and bricklayer for the majority of his adult life. He was an avid collector and enjoyed old westerns. He was a Cubmaster, served on the town board for the village of Coatsburg, and was a volunteer fire fighter for the Central Adams Fire Protection. He enjoyed bowling along with various other organizations over the years.

Survivors include his four children, Jeffrey (Deana) Ripperda of Elgin, Okla., Stacy Ripperda of Camp Point, Shelley (Kent) Rossmiller of Coatsburg, and Jarrod (Kristin) Ripperda of Coatsburg; longtime companion, Hilda Spidle of Quincy; and her daughter and grandchildren, Julie (Wayne) Garrison, Bret and Jaylie Garrison; eight grandchildren, Cody Ripperda, Kasandra Ripperda, Justin Rossmiller, Makayla Ripperda, Brandon Rossmiller, Eli Ripperda, Anika Ripperda, and Nathan Rossmiller; three sisters, Catherine Buscher of Aviston, Mary Ann Brueggemann of Belleville, and Josephine Hood of Troy; and three sisters-in-law Janet Ripperda and Elinor Ripperda, both of Highland, and Margaret Ripperda of Pocahontas.

He was proceeded in death by seven brothers, Alphonse, Vincent, John, Raymond, Edward, Joseph and Clarence Ripperda; one sister Wilhelmine Schroeder; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Alex Hood, Herman Buscher, Ruth Ripperda, and Virginia Ripperda.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Coatsburg. Burial will follow at Golden Memorial Gardens.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home, Camp Point.

MEMORIALS: Impeach Obama Campaign, Quincy American Legion Post 37, or to the donor's choice and will be received at the funeral home.

ARRANGEMENTS: Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home, Camp Point.
