Janet Ripperda, age 85, of Larchwood, IA, died Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 3rd, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present at the Peace Lutheran Church of Rock Rapids.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 4, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Reverend Alex Sloter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the Ripperda family prefers all memorials to be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
Janet Marie Ripperda was born on October 24, 1939, in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of Clarence and Louise (Braastad) Hansen. Janet graduated from Beresford High School in Beresford, SD and Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD. After graduating from college, she worked for an abstract company.
On April 20, 1963, Janet was united in marriage to Donald Ripperda. They were blessed with a son, Bradley. The couple lived on the family farm. After retirement, they gave the reins to their son, Bradley.
Janet was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Larchwood. She worked as an Avon representative for many years. She loved reading, cooking, and had a love for chocolate, especially “SEE’s Chocolate”. Janet loved spending the holidays with family. She will be greatly missed!
Janet is survived by her son, Bradley Ripperda of Larchwood, IA; one brother, Leon Hansen of Beresford, SD; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Louise Hansen; husband, Don Ripperda; brother, Elroy Hansen; and three sisters, Ladonna Fay, Doris Kugler, and Clarice Pearson.
