Paul F. Lahr, age 94, of La Grange, MO passed away, Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at his home near La Grange.
Paul was born December 10, 1928, near Canton a son of Lucian H. and Emma L. Meierant Lahr. He married Hilda Elnora Hunt on June 10, 1956, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Hannibal, MO. She survives.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was lifelong and faithful member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in La Grange where he served in a number of ways with its various ministries. Paul was retired from the Highland C-1 School District as a decades long bus driver and was a lifelong farmer on the same farm that he has lived on since the age of one. Paul was on the first board of directors of the Luther Manor Nursing Home in Hannibal and he and his wife were awarded for 45 years of service to the Manor in 2017. He was a collector of John Deere two-cylinder tractors.
Survivors include his wife of the home; children, Bonnie (Larry) Toliver of Palmyra, MO and Bob (Kelly) Lahr of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Carrie (Dan) Blickhan of Palmyra, Christopher (Rachel) Litteken of Hannibal, MO, Brandon (Diane) Lahr of La Grange, Drew (Sara) Lahr of Columbia, Blake (Lindsey) Lahr of Republic, MO and Shelby Lahr and Storm of Republic; great grandchildren, Bradi Lahr, Elizabeth (Liz) Deming, Brynlea Lahr, Beckett Lahr, Amelia Blickhan, Mason Lahr, Ada Lahr, Ethan Blickhan and a granddaughter to be born in November, sisters in law, Roberta Hunt of Minnesota and Luella Hunt of Hannibal, MO and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son in law Mike Litteken, brother's and sister's in law, Merlin and Norma Earlywine and Walter and Betty Hunt, brother-in-law Wilbert Hunt and one nephew Bobby Hunt.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in La Grange with Pastor Wes Gehrke officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, La Grange, MO. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Northeast Missouri in care of Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 146, La Grange, MO 63448.
