Richard ARNSMAN Obituary

PAYSON, Ill. -- Richard H. Arnsman, 84, of Payson, died Monday (Feb. 15, 2010) in his home. Born July 27, 1925, in Quincy, Richard was a son of Albert H. and Lissetta Lagemann Arnsman. He married Jane Taylor on Oct. 2, 1953, in Vermont Street United Methodist Church in Quincy. She survives. Rich was a lifelong farmer in both the Mendon and Payson areas. He was a member of the Mississippi Valley Production Credit Association Board for 17 years and served on the advisory board for the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of St. Louis. Locally, Rich served on the Payson School Board and the Farm Bureau Board. He served his country in the U.S. Army with the Army Motor Corps from 1950-1952. Rich was an active member of Payson Congregational Church, where he held many offices and positions. A 59-year member of the Masons, Rich served as master numerous times with both the Mendon and Payson Masonic lodges. He was also a member of Quincy Consistory, Ansar Shrine Temple in Springfield and the Quincy Shrine Club. Survivors include his wife, Jane; a son, Tom Arnsman and his wife, Rhonda, of Canton, Mo.; two daughters, Susan Soughers and her husband, Mark, of St. Louis, and Sarah Young and her husband, David, of Bloomington, Ind.; four grandchildren, Katie Helsabeck and her husband, Chris, Shelley Arnsman, Melanie Arnsman and Zach Fisher; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Arnsman of Quincy; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Arnsman was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Fred Arnsman; and a brother, David Arnsman. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in Payson Congregational Church, with the Rev. Rick Welch and the Rev. Dennis Gartung conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson. Payson Masonic Lodge No. 379 will conduct Masonic services at 7 p.m. MEMORIALS: Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Shriners Hospitals for Children. MS Jane and family, We are truly sorry for your great loss. We've grown to Love Mr. and Ms. Arnsmen as brothers in Christ and wonderful friends over the years. He will be greatly missed.
