Robert Wikowsky Obituary

Robert Joseph Wikowsky, 83, of Ewing, Mo., passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, Mo.

He was born May 5, 1937 in Assumption, Ill. a son of Marie and Karl Wikowsky.

He married Betty Jo Leindecker on June 8, 1963 in St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy, Ill., and was the father of three children, Robert (Michelle) Wikowsky of Beebe, Ark., Mary Ann (Cecil) Smith of Maywood, Mo., and Ben Wikowsky of St. Peters, Mo. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Wikowsky, Nathan (Kelsey) Wikowsky, Elizabeth (Jacob) Ransom, Courtney Wikowsky, Heather (Henri) Cacal, Addie Wikowsky, Karley Smith, Chad Smith, Drew Smith and great grandchildren, Preston Wikowsky, Zeke Wikowsky and Zoey Wikowsky; sister, Jean Wikowsky of Springfield, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson of Ewing, Mo., and Joan Leindecker of Quincy, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Joe Leindecker of Quincy, Ill., and Delbert Hoteling of Durham, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother in law, Ronald Johnson of Ewing; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Hoteling of Durham and Norma Peters of Quincy.

Robert served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in July of 1959. He was of the Catholic Faith and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a union member with the IBEW Local 34 for over 50 years.

He enjoyed helping others in the community and volunteered and served as a board member for the Durham Community Center for a number of years and during that time he also enjoyed his role of being Santa Claus. He loved being outdoors working in the garden as well as doing wood working projects.

Due to Covid-19 there will be no visitation. Public graveside services, burial and military honors will be held at the Durham Cemetery in Durham, Mo., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021. The family asks that you bring and wear a mask and practice social distancing if you plan to attend.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Durham Community Center Walking Path Fund or Lewis County Memorial Post 578 of the American Legion in care of Ball-Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 273, Ewing, MO 63440.
