Ada K. Wikowsky

Ada K. Wikowsky, 104, of Peoria, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria. She was born on April 10, 1918, in Harrodsburg, KY, to J.C. and C. Pearl (Collier) Pullium.
At the age of four, Ada's family moved to Illinois, settling in Lexington. She married Earl Wikowsky in St. Louis in 1941; he preceded her in death on November 9, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milburn, Paul, and Douglas; and sisters, Beulah and Gladys.
She is survived by her children, Claude Brown of Arlington, TX and Charlene Brown of Peoria; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Ada worked as a nurse at the old Proctor Hospital where she earned her LPN license in 1965. She worked in the infirmary at Buehler Christian Home for 5 years, then was promoted to superintendent, retiring in 1980. She moved in with her daughter and 2 friends, Edna Anderson and Helen Pfeiffer, becoming the second set of "Golden Girls" for 24 years. She lived the last 4 years at Lutheran Hillside Village in The Care Center where she received excellent, loving care from the nurses and staff.
Ada enjoyed playing cards and board games, crossword puzzles, reading, and crocheting. She was a member of Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church in Groveland.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Lutheran Hillside Village, with a Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Ed Newlan, following at 11 a.m. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington.
