Ronald L. "Ron" Snider, age 88, of Quincy, died Friday, December 2, 2022, at 5:24 pm in Sunset Home.
Ron was born October 8, 1934, in Quincy, IL, a son of Louis F. and Dolores D. Schanz Snider. He married Darlene Ellis on May 1, 1954, in Quincy. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2015.
Ron was a 1953 graduate of Unity High School in Mendon. Ron worked as a salesman for Merchant's Wholesale for 31 years. After his retirement in 1988, he started Ron Snider Auto Sales which he owned and operated for the next 34 years.
Ron was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1964. Ron was an avid Cubs fan who also loved his dogs and his cars. He will always be remembered for his charity and his generosity.
Survivors include: three children: R. Kent (Linda) Snider; Roger (Robin) Snider; and Tammy Snider, all of Quincy; a daughter-in-law, Penny Snider of Quincy; five grandchildren: DeAnna Pales of Quincy; Kyle (Ericka) Snider of Quincy; Josh Snider of Quincy, Brooke (Adam) Sieb of St. Louis, MO; and Shannon Matticks of Quincy; six step grandchildren: Angela (Scott) Middendorf, Rendi (Jesse) Scholten, Rich (Mandy) Riggs, Donna (Randy) Noecker, and Misty and Eric Benner; six great-grandchildren; numerous step great-grandchildren; two sisters: Linda Buddemeyer of Palmyra, MO; and Cheri (Charlie Birdsell) Snider of Liberty, IL; and a brother-in-law, Fred (Mary) Ellis of Lewisburg, TN.
In addition to his wife, Ron was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy Snider; a brother, William Snider; and a niece, Becky Stanbridge.
Services: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Mark Stamper officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
