Steven L. Campbell, age 71, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 10:00 am in his home.
Steven was born August 21, 1949 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Freida Uppinghouse Campbell. He married Barbara Durand in 1971. She preceded him in death in 2009. On October 6, 2018, he married Celeste Haxel in Lake of the Ozarks, MO. She survives.
Steven was a 1967 graduate of Payson Seymour High School. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He was able to go to Washington D.C. as a part of the Great River Honor Flight on April 14, 2018.
Steven started his career at Motorola. He later worked at Gardner Denver, and was employed as a tool and dye maker at Titan Wheel.
Steven enjoyed spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks. In his early years, Steven was an avid baseball player in the Quincy area. He was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Celeste, include four step-children, Tammy (Todd) Dietrich of Villa Ridge, MO, Chad (Jamie) Doellman of Alton, IL, Christopher (Amanda) Doellman of Weatherford, TX, and Casey (Meghan) Doellman of Quincy; 15 step-grandchildren; a brother, Rick Campbell of Quincy; a sister, Patty McKinney of Quincy; 10 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dick Dietrich, Alicia Diamond, Dave (Kathy) Haxel, Veronica (Kenny) Hienz, Mike (Vickie) Haxel, Peggy (Mark) Entrup, Jo Lynn (Terry) Gibson, Debbie (Patrick) Chaissing, Carol (Rick) Rawling, Alvera Haxel; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his first wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Danny Campbell, and a brother-in-law, Ted Haxel.
Services: 2:00 pm on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois with military honors conducted by the United States Army and American Legion Post 37.
Visitation: 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday March 5, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Steve was such a great friend. I have so many great memories of our golfing trips to the Ozarks. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends. We only wish we could have gotten one more trip to the Ozarks with Steve.
