Thomas Meyer Obituary

QUINCY -- Thomas E. Meyer, 72, of 6700 Shadow Lane, died Saturday (Aug. 1, 2015) at his home.

He was born May 2, 1943, in Carrollton, a son of Clement E. and Kathryn L. (Hansen) Meyer. He married Jane M. Waterkotte 50 years ago, on July 24, 1965, in Quincy's St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, and she survives.

Tom worked in the fraternal insurance industry in positions from sales to management. He retired in 2012.

He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. Tom was a member and past president of the Quincy Coin Collectors. He truly enjoyed being with his grandchildren and watching all their activities.

In addition to his wife, survivors also include their children, Lori Bishop, Jeffrey T. Meyer and his wife, Anne, and Lisa Genenbacher and her husband, Ray, all of Quincy; 12 grandchildren, Joshua, Jenna and Julia Bishop, Makenzie, Breanne, Jordan, Keiley and Grace Meyer, and Drew, Abby, Aden and Austin Genenbacher; a brother, Lawrence Meyer and his wife, Holly, of Heber Springs, Ark.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sandee (Frank) Marcinek, Carol Waterkotte, Ron Waterkotte, Tim (Heidi) Waterkotte and Kris (Jim) Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy Wegs and her husband, Donald; his in-laws, Leonard and Charlotte Waterkotte; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Waterkotte.

Tom's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers, doctors, nurses and physical therapists who provided him and his family with wonderful care and support.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: St. Francis Grade School or Quincy Notre Dame High School.

ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.

Jane, Lori, Jeff, Lisa and Families--Nan and I are saddened by the news of Tom's passing. However, we are happy to know that Jesus will keep him wrapped in His arms. We are out of town and wish we could be there to offer our support. God bless you all.
