Orlo James "Jim" Stern, 88 of Lyndon, IL died Tuesday August 12, 2025 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling
He was born on May 7, 1937 in Carroll Co, IL the son of Walter August and Esther Mae (Quackenbush) Stern. He married Mary (Manning) Hawk on July 16, 1966 in Prophetstown. Jim had worked construction in the surrounding area and was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, mowing the yard and stock car racing
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons: Bob Stern of Walnut and Brian (Melissa) Hawk of Nebraska; daughters: Kim (Joe) Madden of Tennessee, Kelly (Dan) Gockel of Sterling, Beth (Bob) Conrady of Prophetstown, Becky Hunter of Rock Falls and Barb (Wayne) Eikenberry of Rock Falls; one brother Ralph Stern of California; one sister Ila Brinkkoeter of South Carolina; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, sisters and son in law Shawn Hunter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday August 16, 2025 from 9-11 AM at River Church, 218 East 3rd Street in Prophetstown. The funeral will follow at 11 AM Burial will conclude at Lyndon Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
