Alene Fletcher-Miller Obituary

FLETCHER -Alene Fletcher-Miller Alene went to be with her Lord on January 28, 2004. Alene was born December 18, 1920 in Ramona, California the fifth of seven children of Jason and Laura Hanson. Alene left the small town of Ramona in 1938 to attend college in Whittier, California. Here she met and married David Brown Fletcher in 1941. They settled in East Whittier and raised their family of four child ren. Sadly, a fifth child died in infancy. Alene worked for East Whittier School District for over 25 years, serving most of that time as school secretary at La Colima Elementary School. She was active in PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA, several bowling leagues, numerous card clubs and an involved member of the churches she attended. Alene was widowed in 1985 and married Richard Thomas Miller in 1989, who also preceded her in death. As an active member of the Landmark Community, she enjoyed planning an d participating in the various activities available. Alene was a loving wife and mother. She was a true and valued friend to many. Her intelligence, quick wit and cheerful disposition made her both well liked and respected by all who knew her. She is survived by her four children, Sharon Wade, David Fletcher, Frances King and Barbara Talbert and their spouses, her 9 grandchildren, their spouses, and 14 great grandchildren. Also precious to her was her step-daughter, Jackie Toney, her husband, their 2 child ren and spouses and 5 grandchildren. She loved being a part of their family. Alene will be greatly missed, but those who knew her do not mourn her passing, as much as we celebrate her life and rejoice for the times we shared with her. A celebration of her life will be held at the Landmark Community Main Lounge on Saturday, February 7th at 2 pm. We invite friends and relatives to share this time with us.
