Marjory Farmer Obituary

FARMER,Marjory

Marjory Farmer passed away December 19, 2011 at the age of 97. She was born in Banff Alberta, Canada on August 16, 1914 where she was a champion speed and barrel jumper ice skater. In 1929 she moved to Whittier where she lived in the same house for 82 years. Her husband, Steve Farmer, predeceased her in 1968. During the 1960s she and her family enjoyed wonderful travels and camaraderie with the Whittier Ramblers, which was a trailer recreational vehicle club.

She is survived by her son Richard Farmer of Huntington Beach, her daughter Shirley Keefer of Whittier and granddaughter Dr. Cynthia Farris of Big Bend, Wisconsin.
Marjory devoted 40 years of her life to teaching crafts to people that are blind at the Whittier Intercommunity Blind Center. In 2009 she was honored by the Social Services Commission of the City of Whittier for "Outstanding Volunteer." The last several years, until her death, she taught crafts at the Whittier Senior Center.

She had a life-long passion for teaching and helping others. She also loved her garden and was a member of the Whittier Garden Club for many years.

Majory brought a lot of love, laughter and joy into the lives of so many people. She will be deeply missed.

Services to be held at 10:00 a.m. December 28 at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 Philadelphia St., Whittier. Phone number 562-698-0304. Services to be by Pastor Richard Todd.
