Dorothy Mixer Obituary

Dorothy Margaret (Lowden) Mixer, 85 years of age, of South Braintree entered life eternal at home on Easter Sunday morning, March 31, 2013. She was born in Norwood and was a longtime Braintree resident. Dorothy was a graduate of Sharon High School, Class of 1947, and subsequently attended Burdette College. She was a proof reader for the New England Journal of Medicine and an employee of Grossmans Industries in Braintree, Grants Store in Quincy and Ames Department Store in Abington. She was an active member of the South Congregational Church, South Braintree. Dorothy had been a volunteer for the Boston Harbor Islands for 15 years, a member of the Red Hat Society, and a member of square dance groups. She had been a seamstress and participated in craft shows specializing in sewing and making dolls. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Robert Clayton Mixer; and the devoted mother of Karen Irene Sallese married to David J. Sallese of Weare, N.H., Robert Clayton Mixer Jr. of Acushnet and Alan David Mixer of Hanson. She was the loving grandmother of Elizabeth Anne Mixer, Abigail Mixer and Rebecca Mixer all of Hanson. She was the sister of Robert Peter Lowden of Canton, Mary Elizabeth Conlon of Foxborough and June Priscilla Goyette of Norton. She was the sister of the late John Frederick Lowden Jr. and the late Zaida Sumner. A funeral service was held at the South Congregational Church, corner of Washington and Pond streets, South Braintree, Wednesday, April 3, at 2 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations may be sent to the South Congregational Church, 1075 Washington St., South Braintree, MA 02184. Arrangements by the Mortimer N. I have known Dorothy for some time now as she was a Square Dancer. She would come dancing on most Monday nites even though she wasn't feeling up to par. My condolences to her children and the rest of her family. Shall she rest in peace. She will be missed by our club, The Buckaroos.
