Joanne R. Donovan

Joanne Rita (Thevenin) Donovan, age 86, of Braintree, passed away from this life on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. She is pre-deceased by her husband Joseph and beloved grandson Erik Carlson. She leaves her four daughters: Nancy Meehan and her husband Rick, Janet Bjork and her husband Jim, Carol Maynard and her husband Jerry and Cathleen Donovan as well as her precious grandchildren Jacklyn, James, Jake and Julie Bjork, Katrina Momenee, Shannon Baltzell, Natasha Meehan and Lily Donovan. She was the loyal sister of Nancy Colletti, Arthur Thevenin and Thomas Thevenin. Joanne was a caring and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She lived in Braintree for her whole life but graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth. Joanne worked for her parents upholstery and furniture business, E. L. Thevenins, in Wollaston for many years before taking a position with the Town of Braintree, where she made and enjoyed many friendships. Joanne loved the theatre arts and to dance whenever possible. In recent years Joanne was awed and appreciative of the many kind and capable healthcare people who she encountered from doctors and nurses to counselors and DaVita technicians, from Brewster ambulance drivers to phlebotomists. Their mutual affections and respect resulted in softening the edges of the complications that arose due to her amyloidosis. Joanne will be sorely missed by her loving family and friends but acutely remembered each time that we are inspired to be courageous, compassionate or forgiving, match colors or to go shopping to distract us.
