Venerie Lauria Obituary

Venerie Val R. (Lavina) Lauria, 91 years of age, entered Life Eternal on Friday, Feb. 28 2014. Val was born in Braintree where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Braintree High School and then went on to graduate from Beauty School. She taught hairdressing for many years at the Mansfield Beauty Academy in Quincy. She received her Real Estate Brokers License from the Lee Institute. She and her son, Dan, founded Lauria Real Estate of Braintree 45 years ago. She was a member of the South Shore Real Estate Board and the Plymouth Board of Realtors. Val was a communicant of the Church of St. Thomas More in Braintree. She was an accomplished pianist and loved gardening. She was also an avid reader. Val was extremely devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They brought her much love and joy. She was the devoted wife of the late Alphonse Al" D. Lauria who died in 2005. She is the devoted and loving mother of Rose M. Devin who was married to the late Phillip Devin, Daniel A. Lauria married to Rosemarie, Robert J. Lauria married to Karen, and Linda L. Lauria and Joe Davis all of Braintree. She is the beloved grandmother of James Devin, John Devin, Michelle Lauria-Tardif, Robert Lauria, Stephen Lauria, Kristen Larson, Alyson McNamara and Courtney Lauria. Val is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Susie Lavina, Frank Lavina, and Agostino Lavina. Visiting hours were held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Tuesday, March 4, from 3 - 7 p.m. There was a Catholic Prayer Service at the funeral home on Ash Wednesday, March 5, at 11a.m. Burial at the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations in Vals memory may be sent to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148-0142. www.peckservices.com
