Edward Clark Obituary

Edward F. Clark, a lifelong resident of Brewster, passed away at Pleasant Bay Nursing Home on June 25th. He was 89 years of age. Born to Karl H. Clark Sr. and Mildred F. (Dugan) Clark on January 5th, 1932. Ed attended Brewster Elementary School and graduated from the Orleans High School in 1950 where he was a standout baseball and basketball player. After graduation, he worked at odd jobs and played baseball for the Town Teams of Brewster and Orleans, which he continued on with after his services to his country. He joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict as a medic. He was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned home and worked for the Town of Brewster Highway Department. He married his soul mate Carolyn (Ellis) in 1960, over 60 years ago! He applied for and was hired by the Commonweath of Massachusetts Highway Department where he worked for 32 years. His weekend job was with the Doyle News Agency delivering the weekend edition of the Boston Sunday Globe (this took him from one end of the Cape to the other). Ed was a life member of the Brewster V.F.W. Also an on call fireman for Brewster for many years, as well as a member of the Captains Golf Club where he played as a member of "The Tradesmen." Among his two sons younger years, he was actively involved in the Brewster Little League program where he volunteered as coach and "everyone's favorite" home plate umpire. Later in life he was unable to be quite as active but he certainly enjoyed lunches at Larry's PX with "The Boys." Our beloved Ed is survived by Carolyn and their children, Jeffrey (Andrea) Clark of St. Cloud, Florida, Matthew (Alianne) Clark of Brewster, and Carrie Clark Leonard (Matthew) of Orleans as well as five grandchildren, Alex, Becky and Kevin Clark and Maxwell and Luke Leonard of Orleans, also one great granddaughter our precious Olivia. Surviving as well are his brothers Karl H. Clark, Jr. of Orleans, Robert Clark of Brewster, and Harold (Rinky) Clark of Hyannis. He was predeceased by brother Willis E. Clark of Brewster and sister Nancy (Clark) Haycraft of Orleans. Graveside services will be held at a time to be announced. For online condolences, please visit www.nickerson funerals.com.
