Antonio Mesquita Obituary

Antonio Alberto Mesquita, age 85, a longtime resident of Framingham, died peacefully in the presence of his family, Saturday, November 17, 2018. He was the devoted husband to Maria Alice (Almeida) Mesquita of Framingham. Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel and Lucinda (Russo) Mesquita. For many years, he worked in the construction industry for Korzon Brothers of Needham and Wellesley. Following retirement in late 1980s, he returned to Portugal to cultivate his passion for farming vineyards and making wine. He was a self-taught musician who started a band in Framingham, playing guitar, mandolin and harmonica and created the Village Band in Portugal. He continued his love of music and during the 1970s as a member of the Portuguese Club, would play at the club with and for his many friends. Besides his wife, Antonio is survived by his daughters, Lucinda Lopes of Marlborough and Maria White and her husband Phillip of Marlborough. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Lopes of Marlborough, Carla Markx of Florida, Katherine White of Marlborough; great grandchildren, Lia Markx and Naomi Markx and many nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Antonio Lopes and the brother of the late Jose Russo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverley Street (Rt135) Framingham. Burial will follow at St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham. Visiting hours at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Ave.) Framingham, will be Tuesday from 4 | 7PM.
