Margaret Nickerson Obituary

Margaret L. Nickerson, 91, formerly of Chatham, MA, died on January 23, 2015. Peggy was born in Chatham and graduated from Chatham High School. She served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was assigned to Washington, D.C. Upon her honorable discharge, Peggy went to nursing school. She later worked at General Motors in Boston and for many years was employed by the Archdiocese of Fall River working at Parishes in Chatham and Fairhaven and teaching catechism. In her later years, Peggy was a faithful companion and caregiver to her sisters. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Corrigan, Pearl Nickerson, Catherine Gildea, Joseph Nickerson, and Marjorie OConnell. Aunt Peggy is survived by 25 nieces and nephews (5 di Lorenzos, 10 Gildeas, 8 Corrigans, and 2 Nickersons) and their spouses, and many great-nieces and -nephews. Funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Ave, Chatham, MA at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016.
