Robert Brown Obituary

Robert (Bob) Walter Brown, 77, passed away on December 7, 2014 with his devoted and loving wife and son at his side. Mr. Brown was born on June 24, 1937 in Boston, Ma. To the late Elizabeth Nickerson and Walter (Rusty) Knowles. He was raised in Orleans, Cape Cod, Ma. and attended school in Orleans. Mr. Brown proudly and honorably served his country for eight years in the U.S. Army with tours of duty in Korea and Hawaii. His last post of service was Fort Polk, La as a recruit training officer. He met the love of his life while stationed at Fort Polk, Patsy Ruth Alston. They married in DeRidder on February 9, 1963. After his tour in the army, they moved to Eastham, Ma., and later to Knox, Ind. He retired from Starke Memorial Hospital in Knox, Ind. As Chief Engineer. He was a 40 year Life Member of American Legion Post 131 and a 39 year Starke County Voiture 1472, 40 et 8 in Knox, Ind. Bob attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lake Charles. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and amazing sense of humor. His favorite past time was trout fishing the fresh water ponds of Cape Cod. Mr. Brown is predeceased by his parents; step father, Roscoe Nickerson; brother Richard; sisters, Evelyn, June, and Betty, and grandson Jose Mendez. Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 51 years, Patsy Ruth Alston Brown of Lake Charles, son Richard Brown and wife Cathy of Alvarado, Tx.; grandchildren: Bridget Perry and husband Elvis, Christie Mendez, David Berger, James Brown and wife Crista, and Kelly Brown all of Texas, great grandchildren: Jeremy, Justin, Miranda, Emma, Isabella, Noah, Hailey, and Marcus all of Texas. Bob also leave behind two Sisters Margie Fulcher and husband Paul of Orleans, Ma. and Hilda Davenport of Harwich Ma. along with a host of nieces and nephews. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. The Reverends Andy Buckley and Francis Larocque are to officiate. Burial will follow Old Cypress Cemetery in DeRidder, La at 3:00 PM Rev. Elvin Alston will officiate. Memories and words of comfort may be expressed to the family at www.lakesidefh.com
