Aldene Gallant Obituary

Aldene (Marcorelle) Gallant, 95, wife of the late Albert J. Gallant, died Wednesday morning, Oct, 13, 2010, in the Caldwell Nursing Home in Ipswich after an extended illness. Born in Ipswich on June 2, 1915 she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Rita (DeRoches) Marcorelle. Mrs. Gallant attended St. Stanislaus Grammar School in Ipswich. She was a graduate of Ipswich High School, Class of 1933. She had worked as a nanny in Beverly and had also worked at Haywood Hosiery in Ipswich. She married her husband Albert in 1939 and they started their family. Mrs. Gallant had worked and was retired from LaSalette. Her hobbies included singing and was a member of both the Silver Strands Choir and Our Lady of Hope Choir. Mrs. Gallant was a life-long communicant of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, both of Ipswich. She was a member of the Ipswich Catholic Womens Club and the Senior Bowling League. She enjoyed knitting and sewing. Mrs. Gallant was predeceased by her husband Albert on April 19, 1982. Mrs. Gallant is survived by her 11 children and their spouses: Brian and Kerry Gallant, Mark Gallant, daughter-in-law Jeanne Gallant, Suzanne and Nels Gustafson, Roland and Diane Gallant, Norbert and Maureen Gallant, Lucinda Currier, Daniel and Jennifer Gallant, Janet and Larry Corcoran, Jeanne and Robert Freeman, Dennis and Joanne Gallant, Claire and Gary Wile, 21 grandchildren: Jeff, Michelle, Nicole, Marc Jason, Derek, Catie, R.P., Brad, Ryan, Adam, Matthew, Ashley, Jessica, Brendan, Amy, Chad, Stephen, Michael, Philip, Alexis and Joshua, 19 great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Cassidy, Colby, Paul, Christopher, Katrina, Chris, James, Drew Parker, Anna Grace, Davis, Spencer, Ethan, Nora, Evan, Aiden Michael, Logan, Cody and Kaya, and she is survived by many nieces and nephew. Mrs. Gallant was also predeceased by: son Philip Gallant, son-in-law John Currier, granddaughter Beth Elizabeth Gallant, five sisters: Ileen Marcorelle, Cora Gallant, Edna Mae Marcorelle, Theresa Kotek and Lucille Prisby, and 6 brothers: Edmond, Paul, Ernest, Louis, David and Albert Marcorelle. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 52 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Burial followed in the New Highland Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours were held Friday, Oct. 15, from 4-8 p.m., in the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main St., Ipswich, relatives and friend were respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either: LaSalette Missionaries, 915 Maple Ave., Harford, CT 06114-2330 or to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan Street Suite B-102 Danvers, MA 01923.
