Barbara Essensa

Barbara J. Essensa, 85, beloved wife of the late James A. Essensa Jr., died Sunday evening, October 19, 2014 at the Beverly Hospital. Born in Boston, she received her education in the Lowell school system and graduated from Lowell High School. She resided in Revere where she met her husband at the Revere Baptist Church. They moved to Hamilton in 1968 where she had since resided. Mrs. Essensa had been employed for many years as a diamond saleswoman at Descenza Jewelers in Boston. Active in the community, she was an active member and on the Board of Directors of the Hamilton Council on Aging. She was also active in the Book Club and Readers Group. She had a passion for music and enjoyed singing both solo and in the choir at the Revere Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Daryl B. Essensa and her wife, Elizabeth A. Sayers of Greenfield, a sister, Sheila D. Joslin and her husband, Kirk of Holliston, two sons, James Essensa and David Essensa, five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Friday, October 24 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
