James Navarro Obituary

James Navarro, 50, of 43 Van Ripien St. Jersey City NJ died peacefully Wednesday, June 11 at University of Hoboken Hospital. Born June 8, 1964 he was the son of the late Joseph A. Navarro and Carolyn (Butler) Navarro. He is a graduate of Ipswich High School and North Shore Community College. Jamie grew up in Ipswich and had a love for the theatre. He performed in many local plays at Governor Dumner Academy and also performed at Giordanos Dinner Theatre in Georgetown for a brief period. He was a long standing member of the local BAGLY organization in Boston. Jamie loved Cranes Beach and going to the Clam Box and Riverview whenever he was home. Drawn by his love for the theatre he moved to New York City in the 1980s where he took in many Broadway shows. He worked as a computer graphics artist on Wall Street and was a survivor of the attack on 9/11. Jamie enjoyed Bachata music, dancing and cooking. Friends say he was the life of the party and he enjoyed many hours on New Yorks river front parks playing dominos and scrabble. He vacationed annually in the Dominican Republic. He is survived by two sisters, Terry Manning and Sandra Navarro both of Ipswich, three nieces, Nicole Buckingham and Robin Moody of Wilmington, NC, Stacey Moody of Ipswich, two great-nieces, Sophia and Selena Buckingham of Wilmington NC, an aunt, an uncle and several cousins. A service will be held on Sunday July 13 at 12:30 PM at Locust Grove Cemetery in Rockport for family and friends. On Wednesday July 9th at 5:30 PM there will be a memorial at the Pavilion Beach in Ipswich. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in New York City.

Jamie and I shared a birthday, and while in school a friendship. I'll always remember his great big smile and huge heart. He loved making people happy. RIP Jamie
