Kevin Lenten Obituary

The heartbroken family of Kevin Daniel Van Lenten lost an incredible son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend on Sunday, November 30, 2014. Kevin was born on January 2, 1990 at Beverly Hospital. He attended St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH. His concentrations were Business and History. Kevin has been employed for four years at Johnson Paint in Woburn, MA in sales. He always wanted to follow in the footsteps of his dad, his best friend, whom he called 'Dad Man' and work for Benjamin Moore and Co. The name Kevin Van Lenten, lovingly known as KVL is synonymous with sports. His passion for playing them began as early as TAA U-8 Soccer and T-Ball and continued on with youth basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and football. Kevin graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in 2008 where he was honored to captain the boys' soccer, basketball, and lacrosse teams. He then took this passion to Bridgton Academy in Maine where he played on the Men's Soccer team, while spending every spare moment shooting hoops, playing pick-up and winning B-Ball tournaments. He graduated from Bridgton in 2009 and continued playing soccer at St. Anselm College and to win countless contests with his beloved 'Slippery Demons.' He credits his Dad, numerous coaches, and his childhood and college friends for developing his skills. They instilled in him a passion for not only playing sports, but becoming an avid fan. He was a die hard Yankees fan and is currently in first place in his fantasy football league. A light has been extinguished in the Van Lenten household. Kevin was our energy source. Words cannot describe the love he had for his treasured soul mate, Bradi True, the love of his life. They lived together in Stoneham with their 'Baby' English Bulldog 'Bronx'. Kevin is survived by his adoring parents, Don and Geraldine, his cherished Irish Nannie, his three siblings; Christopher whose intellect and wisdom inspired Kevin; Katie, whom he protected and considered his dearest friend; and his little brother TVL whom he mentored, loved and enjoyed watching develop into an amazing athlete. He leaves behind Uncles, Joe, Danny, and Doug; Aunts Madeline, Tricia, Donna, and Judy; cousins Michael, Ryan, Dylan, Aedan, Amy, Rich, Keri, Shawn, Bryan, Nicole, and Lindsey; second cousins, Nia, Kara, Lainee, Wyatt, Brooke, Leila, and Zayd; His Godparents Brenda and Mitch; The True and Aldrich families and close family friends, John, Emily, and Scott; and the friends he loved as brothers. We will all love you until the end of time. Kevin was predeceased by his loving Irish Pop-pops, his dear Uncle Larry, and his look-alike Uncle Bob Jackson. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park St., Topsfield, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Friday from 3 - 8 p.m. Interment will be private. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations may be made to the Topsfield Athletic Association KVL Scholarship Fund which is being established to honor Kevin. Please send checks to 31 Kinsman Lane, Topsfield, MA 01983. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
