Robert Granata Obituary

Robert (Bob) J. Granata, a resident of Four Seasons at Wall, NJ passed peacefully into eternal life on January 20th, 2018 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He was 83 years old. Born in Jersey City, NJ, to Florence (nee Rosso) and Sam Granata, he was raised in North Bergen, NJ. Bob served eight years in the Naval Reserve and earned a BS and MBA degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Bob and his wife of 60 years, Marge, raised their family in Ridgewood, NJ where he was a member of Hobbyists Unlimited and Activities Unlimited of Wyckoff NJ. He served as President of SHARE, Inc., an affordable shared senior home in Ridgewood NJ. In earlier years, Bob enjoyed tennis, golf, bowling and was an avid reader. After joining CBS in 1968 as Director of Acquisitions and Development, Bob went on to hold the positions of VP of Finance and Planning for the CBS Publishing Group; Senior VP of Operations and Administration for CBS Magazines; and VP Managing Director of Fawcett Books. In addition to his beloved wife, Marge, Bob leaves two daughters Elizabeth Hickey (Christopher), of Alexandria, VA, and Kathleen Granata (Nancy) of Glen Rock, NJ; two sons: Robert Granata of Conway, SC and David Granata (Catherine) of Topsfield, MA. He was also the adored Pop Pop of six grandchildren: Kevin, Patrick, Andrew and Thomas Granata of Topsfield, MA, Caroline Hickey of Alexandria, Va; and Kimberly Granata of Conway, SC. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Granata. Bob is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, dear family members and extraordinarily wonderful friends of many, many years. Visitation will be at Orender Family Home for Funerals at 2643 Old Bridge Rd, Manasquan, NJ on Friday, January 26th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27 at Saint Denis Roman Catholic Church, 90 Union Avenue (Rt 71), Manasquan, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Alzheimers New Jersey (alznj.org).
