David Bosanko Obituary

David John Bosanko

On 08/08/2014 David (54) peacefully made his final journey home. He was born on 10/26/1959 in Seattle, Washington to Robert and Mary Bosanko. David grew up on Queen Anne Hill, attended Queen Anne High School, and graduated from South Seattle Community College with an Associate of Science degree. David was a kind, loving family man. His gracious words of love and excitement provided people around him with energy, stamina, joy and laughter. He was spontaneous and could be quite clever in his use of humor. He had a passion for hiking, 4-wheeling, hunting, and was a man of the outdoors. David was a journeyman member of Seattle Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 32, and spent over 20 years as an HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic. He was skilled in his welding and could modify almost anything. David enjoyed vintage cars, motorcycles, and trucks. He held a wealth of knowledge in the history of military battles, past presidents, and automobiles. David was a wonderful husband and father to the love of his life, Mira and his son Russell. He will be missed by those who knew him, his family members, Paul, James/Naoko, Carolyn/Craig Smith, Jeff/Sunny, nephews, niece, cousins and aunt. Grave side service will be held Friday, 08/22/2014 at Calvary Cemetery 5041 35th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105 at 10:30AM. The celebration of his life will be held on the same day at Lincoln Park Beachside (Shelter #3) 8603 Fauntleroy Way SW, Seattle, WA 98136 at 4:30PM, it will be a Potluck.

Not sure what to say?

It is with profound sorrow that I write this…Only last night did I learn of Dave's passing. My most heartfelt condolences go out to Dave's wife, son, and siblings.

Dave was my best friend in late junior high and high school. We shared countless adventures. First came riding bicycles, followed later by motorcycles. We got our driver's licenses almost at the same time, and also got into accidents almost at the same time. There was hiking, fishing, 4-wheeling, engine building, car fixing, rat-racing, beer, BB-guns, skipping school, and mutual friends like Pat C., and Brett B. to keep us busy.

Unfortunately after college, life took over. I was married, had some babies, and moved where the military sent me. The last time I saw Dave was at our 10-year high school reunion. Since then it's been 20+ years. During all those years I routinely thought of him, wondering how he was doing, what his wife and kids were like, and if I should call. I didn't know what would I say? Would he even want to talk to me? All questions now that I wish I'd ignored…and just called.

I am glad to see from these posts that Dave led an exceptional life. He was loved, liked, and respected. All because he, himself was exceptional.

Someone once told me, you are lucky in life if you can have a best friend; I have been fortunate to have more than one. Dave's passing will leave a hole. But I'll fill it by telling stories of our adventures to my kids, their kids, and anyone who will listen.

I've posted a couple of my favorite pictures. They were taken during one of our adventures. The first picture is of Dave at the top of Mt Constance. The second is Dave “testing” the freshness of his socks before our trip home.

In closing, I would like to thank you for letting me offer my thoughts and condolences. Most sincerely,
Steve Curley, North Pole, Alaska.

David was a great father, husband and friend. He was so respectful to others and very welcoming to people. David was funny, and kind. He was multi-talented, and a great engineer and craftsmen. He saw that his son, Russell, receive the highest quality education that was well rounded in the arts (music) as well as sports (ice skating). I will miss David Bosanko. My thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful and kind family.

I knew David from Jr Hi (or maybe Elementary School days' Little League) through his 20's, but I haven't seen him in many years. He was smart as hell, funny as hell and much like me he was an imagineer who would tackle projects with reckless abandon. As an example, he updated his 'flat-head 6 cylinder' Korean War surplus Dodge Power Wagon (like you see in M.A.S.H.) with a Chrysler 440 Magnum V8 and the noise level in the cab was probably 90-100 dB, but it could climb a telephone pole in 4th gear. Before that, he had a war surplus Jeep and he was hit by a Metro bus at QA Ave. and Blaine St. knocking it over but David jumped out while it rolled.

About a week after they bought their Sunbeam Tiger, David and Carolyn tried to attend the Sequim Irrigation Day Parade with the Pacific Tiger Club, but they missed it because the front bumper (literally !) fell off of the car en route. They eventually made it to Sequim and Dave came through as usual: he laughed it off and fixed it when he got home.

I am very sad to learn he passed and hugs to the family. Thanks for the memories old buddy.

Dave kind of remineded me of Jimmy Stewart. He was outspoken and honest, sinsear and sometimes ereverant but always a good amigo. I met Dave 15 years ago when one of my chillers was leaking. He was the service guy for Carrier at the time. We hit it off pretty good and shared many a coffee break at work. He touaght me a lot about my machines and I realy respected his level of professonalism. He is tops in the industry. We managed to get together and empty a few bottels of brew now and again and I saw the devotion Dave had for all his family. It is an honor to be one of Daves friend. God's speed Davy. Matt

I am so sad to hear of David's passing. I spent so much time with Carolyn growing up and always over at their house, he was family to me. He was one of the nicest and funniest boys, full of energy and laughter. I remember a camping trip we went on at the beach. He will be so missed. My love and prayers go out to you Carolyn and to your family. I know David is in heaven now and how much you will miss him. Love and prayers, Chrissy (robirds) Ruiz

"Dave" was FUN. He shared his wealth of knowledge with me one day when I wanted to put a 289 V8 in a 67 Ford Mustang. He was simply a TEACHER. He gave freely of his time often without expecting anything in return. Dave was a "go-to" guy. He was so well versed on every technical and historical subject there was. He believed in RESTORATION of autos, homes and mostly PEOPLE. Dave was kind. Everywhere he went-he'd light up a room with his grin and humor. He loved joking-around; but, at a moment's notice-he could get very serious and get down to business. He had a CAN DO attitude. He lifted me up MANY TIMES. Dave never cut anybody down or bullied anyone. I eventually learned about the Ford 289 and the Shelby equipped car-the Sunbeam Tiger. i hope his son Russell will drive it and take good care of it for many years to come. I eventually published a book "289 HiPo Build-Up 40 Years Later" because of Dave's influence. He inspired me to become the ENGINE-eer I am today. I will miss him.- Mark Taeschner

Sorry to see Dave leave so soon. I cannot repeat some of the sarcastic humor he used, but I still laugh when I think about it. I enjoyed his kindness to my daughter and his great cups of espresso.

David was our favorite! I work with Unico Properties and he'd have to come check out keys to our buildings to gain access for his work. He would always bring our team coffee and pastries, seriously the nicest man. He will be missed. We love you David! -

It has been many years since I saw David. He was a patient of Greg Tindal at the Fauntleroy Chiropractic Clinic for many years. When I worked at the clinic I saw him every month. He was such a sweet and genuine and gentle person. He had a great sense of humor and wit. My sympathy and prayers go out to his wife and son and family. Wishing you comfort and peace. Karen Tindal
