Cynthia McManus Obituary

Cynthia (Wilcox) McManus, of Hingham, passed away after three years of living with cancer, on January 14, 2019. Cindy is survived by her husband, Richard (Hingham); her mother, Georgina (Randolph); her brother, Joseph (Bangor, Maine); her four daughters, Sara Ferguson (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Caitlin Curis (Slaterville, R.I.), Aimee McManus (Ithaca, N.Y.), Becca McManus (Hingham); and her granddaughter, Amelia Curis. She was born May 13, 1957, in Boston, to Georgina and Joseph Wilcox. A lover of the arts, Cindy adored singing and acting, and for several years performed as an equity actress in New York City. Later in her life, she served as an advocate for others through her work as a Human Resource director for a number of nonprofit agencies. Cindy was dedicated to her home and her children, and found numerous work opportunities that were possible from home. She was a manager of an online support service for a national training company, a columnist for the Hingham Journal, and a customer support professional for Apple Computer. Cindy had a compassionate heart for animals, and especially loved her dogs, Bozo and Toby, who were her constant companions. Treatment made it possible to see her daughters graduate from college and her granddaughter born. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her. Arrangements are under the care of Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel in Hingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cindy's name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. A family-only remembrance will be held later in the year. For additional information and online condolences, please visit www.downingchapel.com.

We sincerely wish to express our sympathy and condolences to Richard McManus and his family.
I had the wonderful opportunity to spend several hours with Cindy last fall. Though I've known her for six plus years, this was a chance to share with her our thoughts, ideas and catch up on our families. We enjoyed a very speciall time together.
We will miss you, Cindy, and know that you are at peace., with God and angels.
Our hearts and prayers will continue to be with you and your family.

With love, Deborah Lee, Justin and Janelle Walsh
