Cecile Sharon Obituary

Cecile Ceil (Naze) Sharon, 70, of Marlborough, MA, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. Ceil was born in Marlborough on November 22, 1942. She graduated from St. Annes Academy and continued on to Russian language studies at Emmanuel College, Boston, MA. Prior to opening her own business, Ceil studied with the late Anna Walker and became the manager of Walkers studio for five years. She studied with the Boston Ballet and with numerous teachers in New England and New York City. She had been the choreographer of several community theater musicals in Marlborough, Hudson, Clinton, Southborough, Sudbury, Shrewsbury and Westborough, to name a few. She always worked with the Marlborough High School Show Choir and Drama Department and the Marlborough Rotary Club. Ceil closed the doors to Ceil Sharon School of Dance in June 2012, after a fabulous 40th anniversary celebration. Ceil is survived by her husband, Paul Sharon, Sr., of Marlborough, her sons, Paul Sharon, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Grafton, MA and John Sharon and his wife Victoria of Tolland, CT, her daughter, Dianne Marcotte and her husband Louis of Marlborough, 3 granddaughters, her best friend, Amy Loveless of Marlborough, 5 nephews and 3 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lillian (Lacouture) Naze and her brothers, Paul Naze and his wife Theresa and George Naze and his wife Maureen. My sympathy to Ceil's family. I was lucky enough to get to know her late in her life, as her visiting nurse. What a wonderful woman.

I was enrolled with her dance studio for ten years. Around recital week we would try on our costumes.....as a little girl finding sequins on the floor was exciting and cool. Later...being old enough to do the finale with ceil herself. Never will forget the feeling of hearing the song...you need haaaaaands hah.

After reading other entries you see she just wanted you to do your best...give 110% and always remember to SMILE

I was lucky to have been a student of Ceil's for many years. Her praise and brutally honest feedback made her such a great teacher. She made me want to work harder. I believe she contributed to improving my self esteem and confidence. I have many fond memories of the card games and pool parties on Chase Road, Hampton Beach vacations, and the wonderful 25th anniversary party hosted for my parents. Ceil was an inspiration to so many both on the dance floor and in her long fight against cancer. God Bless the Sharon family. There is another angel dancing in heaven . . .

Paul, John, Diane..Like others here I want to express my sympathy for your loss. To many she was our dance teacher, neighbor and friend. I remember the excitment of receiving my 10 year trophy. But to you she was and always will be your mother. May you find comfort in your memories and the stories of others. One day you will find that they no longer provoke tears but a smile as you remember. My condolences.

Deepest sympathy and prayers to the Sharon family. I so enjoyed learning to "move on stage" not necessarily dance. You made us all look good. You were a woman of strong convictions, kind to others and a role model to all who knew you. God bless you Ceil, I will always remember you and the fun we had in dance class and theatre productions. It was an honor to know you.

What a terrific lady she was! Ceil was our choreographer for Drama at MHS. I was the worst dancer, but she was always patient with me! I'll never forget her telling me at a rehearsal for my last musical, "Don't worry, you can dance in the back for the group numbers. You sing really loud and no one will see your dancing..." I still laugh when I think about that day. Ceil will be missed. My thoughts are with the family of this amazing woman!

Ceil was such a wonderful positive person and one of those key adult influences in my early life and the lives of countless others. My fond memories of her go all the way back to the living room of her Church Street house where we made tissue paper flowers for the dance school float. In class we worked hard and had lots of fun. In ten years of dance I don't recall her ever raising her voice or becoming short tempered, even during that busy recital week. She set a standard by which I judge teachers, coaches and other adults in the lives of my children. Though she has left you too soon, she will live on by having touched so many. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

My mind has been flooded with all the memories at Cultural Affairs. So many happy times. We shared some great times. Many in Marlboro will never know how much of a driving force she was. Ceil you sure were "A pillar of the community", and no one will ever fill your shoes. Flora now has her traveling pal again and I'm sure the first thing she said was "lunch time!! Time to get the cards out and play Gin." All left behind will miss you. My thoughts are with your family. Till we meet again....

Ceil was my neighbor and I babysat her children for many years. I became a student at her school later than most and what I got out of that was a desire for more, the love of dance, that if I worked hard anything was possible. I admired her independence and her love of dance. I attended my first dance convention in NYC and also saw my first professional and also college concert performances. As a result, decades later, I am still in the field, well known and respected having had a career where I worked with Michael Jackson, did a Broadway show, danced on both coasts in concert companies. All because I stepped foot onto Ceil's dance floor. I've since been fortunate to have studied with the best in the country but I learned my love of dance through Ceil. SHE gave me the "bug" and from what I've been told, would always ask about me when running into my family when I was dancing in LA or NYC, even when I moved back to MA. She was always supportive of me. I always appreciated that and have come to realize through time and experience, that's what dance teachers do. They don't just teach steps. They teach "life". Priceless.

I will honor her every time I step into my classroom, at every workshop or intensive I teach at or when I think back at my roots. Ceil will always be there.

My deepest condolences to Paul, John and Dianne and your families.

At my age I say 'Vive the Memories' and the name Ceil brings so many Happy Memories, all the trips bringing my grand-daughter to her dancing lessons, the recitals, meeting Ceil at Sergio's
and many other happy encounters. Her son Paul was a good friend of my son Jeff and I always liked to hear about John and his wife Vickie and their HORSES.
Ceil, thanks for you and your family for being a part of my life.
