Shawn Landry Obituary

Shawn Joseph Landry, age 6, died unexpectedly Sept. 24, 2013 at his Hudson home. The beloved son of Joseph and Erica (Tierney) Landry, Shawn is also survived by his loving family: his brothers, Christopher and Timothy; his sister Kimberly; grandmothers Carol Tierney and Marie Landry; and uncles Douglas Tierney Jr., and Leo Jr., Edward and Steve Landry. He was the grandson of the late Douglas Tierney Sr. and Leo Landry Sr. The Landry family made it a point to involve Shawn in all their activities, and they especially loved his bright smile. Shawn joined them camping in Templeton every weekend throughout the summers, enjoying campfires and toasting marshmallows. Backyard fun included floating in the pool, lawn bowling or a spin on the family ice/deck hockey rink. A highlight was the family's 5200 mile road trip up and down the U.S. East Coast with a stop Disney World, where Shawn enjoyed the fireworks. He also recently visited the "Touch a Ray Tank" at the NE Aquarium, and he was a big fan of the Boston Bruins. Shawn formerly attended the Assabet Collaborative in Boylston, and was currently enrolled at Seven Hills Foundation in Groton. His family is most appreciative of the support provided by the schools and their staff, as well as the The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center, Children's Hospital in Boston and all those involved with Shawn's care. Relatives and friends were invited to visiting hours on Sun. Sept. 29th from 1-5pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass was celebrated Mon. Sept. 30th at 9am in St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial followed in St. Michael's Cemetery, 278 Cox St., Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Shawn's name to the The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center, 112 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748; also online at http://www.hopkintonrespite.com Guest book at www.actonfuneralhome.com

To the Landry Family

It's hard to know just what to say,
When one so young is taken away.
Far too soon he had to part,
His memory forever engraved in all your hearts.

We only knew him for a short while,
But the life he led made us smile.
He was so beautiful and oh so rare,
Life as they say just isn't fair.

Those gone before him will watch him with care,
Till the day comes when we'll all join him there.

Know Shawn Joseph is watching from heaven above,
And with each ray of sunshine, he's sending his love.

Our little bit of healing for you Joe, Erica, Tim, Kim and Chris....

With Love, Mark and Lisa Tomyl

Dear Erica, Joe, Christopher, Kimberly and Timothy, I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your special guy, Shawn. Being privileged to be welcomed into your home shortly after Shawn came home from the hospital, I was inspired by the love and dedication you all showed to him. In his short time with you, I'm sure he felt all the love and attention you all gave him, and thrived because of all the experiences you gave him. He had the best smile, and giggles especially
when Mom made funny noises while tickling him. I can't imagine your pain. My heart goes out to you.

I wish that I could offer some words that would ease your pain but, as a parent.....I know that there are none. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers. We haven't met but, we are neighbors from the other side of Kent Drive. Our hearts broke at the news of your devastating loss.
God Bless ,
