Joan McCarthy Obituary

Joan Elizabeth McCarthy, 75, died peacefully on Friday morning, November 25, 2016 surrounded by family. Born in Marblehead in 1941, she was the daughter of the late Robert Carver and Elizabeth (Tatterfield) Carver. She was a graduating member of the Marblehead High School Class of 1959, and went on to attend Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia. In April of 1964 she married Edward McCarthy. After many years at home raising her children, Joan became a long time employee of the Marblehead Reporter, and later of Tower School. She had a passion for cooking, politics and laughing with old friends, and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband Edward McCarthy, son Stephen McCarthy of Charles- ton, SC, daughter Erin McCarthy - Freiberger, son-in- law Phil Freiberger of Marblehead, and grand-chil- dren Ryan, Sean and Megan Freiberger. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Wednesday, November 30 at 10AM. Burial to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Visiting hours will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Tuesday, November 29 from 4-7PM. Our Dear Next door neighbor Ed & Family,

Stephen & I are truly sorry for your loss.
I am speechless.
We will surely miss Joan . We have been so blessed our over 30 years here in Marblehead to have had you both as our wonderful neighbors.
I have lovely close memories of Joan that I will cherish.
